Has your tooth become infected to the point where you need a root canal? Let Burlington’s Dentistry on Brant help you determine if a root canal treatment is what you need.
Why would I need a root canal?
Inside each one of our teeth there is a tiny chamber called the pulp chamber. This houses the nerve of the tooth, blood vessels and other cells.
When the pulp chamber becomes contaminated by infection or trauma then a root canal treatment is recommended to save the structure of the tooth so the tooth doesn’t need to be extracted and replaced by an implant or bridge.
What is involved in a root canal?
Root canal treatment involves the removal of the contaminated nerve tissue inside the tooth by cleaning, shaping and decontaminating with tiny files and irrigating solutions.
The decontaminated canals are then filled with a bio-compatible material called gutta purcha and the tooth then has a restoration to complete the procedure. The tooth then looks and functions just like a natural tooth.
